  • Video Chat Features on iN2L Tablets

    Beginning in April, patients have been able to connect with loved ones through video calls using the iN2L tablets, and now with even more features its easier than ever to schedule and place calls with contact lists and easy invites.

    Patients at Advanced Rehab and Healthcare of Athens are able to see loved ones when using the iN2L tablets for video chats.

    Community Care Center of Crockett patients enjoy video chats with family thanks to the iN2L tablets.

    Below are some of the features available from the latest update.

    We hope you have been enjoying the new Video Chat solution on your iN2L tablets! Since releasing this feature back in April, we have heard from our communities how much easier it makes keeping residents connected to their loved ones when in-person visits are not possible. Here are a few things they especially like:

    • Residents can easily initiate a video chat with one simple tap on the tablet’s home screen.
    • Family and friends receive an invitation to join the call as a text message and simply tap the link to start video chatting. No need to download apps or sign up.
    • Up to 7 friends and family members can join each video call with the resident.

    Now, we are happy to announce some NEW upgraded Video Chat features that make the tablet an even better tool for virtual connection.

    Expand Residents’ Social Networks with Automatic Contact List Building

     

     

    The tablet will now create contact lists for each resident, available for viewing in their My Page profile. Each time a resident calls someone new using Video Chat from their profile, that person’s name and phone number will be automatically saved in the resident’s profile on the tablet. The next time the resident wishes to call a contact, they won’t need to remember their phone number—simply tap on their name and the video chat session will be initiated.

     

    In addition, these new contacts will automatically be sent a text message inviting them to send the resident photos and text messages, increasing residents' feelings of connection with their social network through meaningful everyday interactions. It’s as simple as that—no extra work for staff.

    Easily Start Telehealth Visits with Email Invitations

    For times when the other party will not be using a smartphone to join the call, the tablet now offers the option to send invitations via email instead of a text message. This option can also be used for telehealth appointments so that residents can keep their scheduled healthcare appointments. The email invitation enables the healthcare provider to join the appointment from their desktop or laptop computer if desired at the scheduled time.
