Our Directors lead a multi-talented team of Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists, Assistants and support staff; providing leadership to improve treatment for Patients and long-term outcomes.

    Carmen Vitton M.S., CCC-SLP, RAC-CT, CDP is the Chief Operating Officer for Rehab Synergies, a provider of Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy services with over 50 Residential, Transitional Care Facilities and Outpatient along with Home Health agencies throughout Texas, which she started in 2010. Carmen is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 25+ years of multi-facility, multi-state clinical, managerial and operational experience in the public school, hospital, home health, skilled nursing and outpatient settings. She is a member of ASHA’s Special Intereste Divisions 13 Swallowing & Dysphagia, Aural Rehabilitation, 14 Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, and is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society.  Carmen participates in the Dallas Chamber of Commerce Executive Women’s Roundtable and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Carmen resides in Dallas with her Husband Jim who is an International Captain for Delta Airlines. They have three Westies, Lucy, Louis and Eloise.

    Jill Darling received her Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees from Baylor University. Jill is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, and is also LSVT-Loud certified. Jill began her career with Rehab Synergies as Director of Rehab at Stonebrook Manor. Most recently she was the Director of Rehab/Speech Language Pathologist at Heritage House of Keller. Jill has been a practicing Speech Language Pathologist for over 10 years and enjoys working with the geriatric population, especially in the area of dementia. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, reading, and playing golf.

    Beth Walters, COTA attended LCCC in Schnecksville, PA and received her A.A.S in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. She is originally from Allentown, PA, and moved to TX in 2009.  She has over 15 years experience working with the adult population in inpatient and SNF. Beth enjoys working with the dementia population and became a Certified Dementia Practitioner in 2016.  She became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) in June of 2017 in order to perform specialty techniques such as manual lymphatic drainage and lymphedema bandaging.

    April Fisher graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in Mass Communications. She then entered Physical Therapy School at Hardin-Simmons University, where she earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007. After graduation, April worked as a traveling therapist in South Carolina and Colorado before returning home to Texas. April’s areas of expertise include wound care, manual orthopedic treatment and geriatric rehabilitation. She is the former Director of Rehabilitation for Rehab Synergies at Clyde Health Care Center and was recently promoted to Regional Director of Rehabilitation.

    In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her three dogs, playing sports and being on the lake.

    Graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelors of Science Degree, Jennifer furthered her education  with a Master’s of Science from Texas Christian University with a  degree  in Communication Disorders. Jennifer has been with Rehab Synergies since its inception in 2010. Jennifer is bilingual and has over 10 years experience in skilled nursing rehabilitation. She was recently married and enjoys traveling and exercising.

    Tiffany Fitzpatrick received her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Abilene Christian University in 2009. She then attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her Masters of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2011. Tiffany is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and is trained in Ampcare. She has been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist for 9 years. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work in a multitude of settings including home health, outpatient, acute care and skilled nursing. Tiffany has always had a passion for the geriatric population with a particular interest in dysphagia, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.

    Tiffany is a native Texan and resides in Mansfield, Texas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, reading, and traveling anywhere with a crystal-clear beach.

    Marlon Hill graduated from University of Texas at Tyler with a B.S. in Health and Kinesiology in 2009. He then entered Occupational Therapy School at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he earned Masters of Occupational Therapy in 2012. Marlon joined the Rehab Synergies team following graduation. While with the company he continued to enhance his skills and knowledge base by credentialing as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, LSVT-BIG Certified and a Certificate as a Fieldwork Educator. In a path of continued growth, Marlon obtained his MBA from the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston in 2018.

    Jennifer Marx received her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2000. Her Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders was conferred in 2002 from The University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Jennifer is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and is certified in MDTP, Vital Stim Plus and holds a Certificate of Completion for a 30-hour Rehab Manager Training Program. Jennifer has been a practicing Speech Language Pathologist for over 17 years and has served in a leadership capacity for 12 years with the last 9 serving as a Regional Director. Jennifer has always had a passion for the geriatric population with particular interest in dementia, aphasia and TBI. She possesses both operational and compliance experience and has always found navigating the appeals process to be an exciting challenge. Jennifer has been married to her husband, David, for almost 14 years and they have 3 children together, ages 7 to 12. Jennifer enjoys traveling, exercise and the beach.

    Her family enjoys theme parks and loves to participate in OCR’s and Mud Runs.

    John-Wesley Gericke is the Physical Therapy Clinical Liaison for Rehab Synergies. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. He worked in Philadelphia as an exercise physiologist fulltime at a private sports medicine and rehab clinic, while going to school and graduated from Harcum College in 2011 with an Associates of Science degree in Physical Therapy. He moved to Texas right after graduation in May 2011.

    Kimberly has been practicing in the state of Texas for 12 years.  She leads the team of Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapists at the facility. Kimberly and team specialize in Stroke Rehab, Pain Management and general Orthopedics.

    The Clarksville Rehabilitation Department is staffed with highly skilled Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists and Assistants. Led by, Curtis Mayo, Physical Therapist Assistant, the team works together to help patients reach their goals of higher quality of life, whether it be to return home independently or to increase independence within the facility. Curtis Mayo is a Senior Director with Rehab Synergies having been with them since inception in 2010.

    Teresa Clark, COTA, is the Director of Rehab in Clyde , Texas. Teresa worked in Clyde for  2 years PRN, under the direction of April Fisher,  DPT, DOR. Teresa took a 6 month hiatus, then had the wonderful opportunity to come back to Clyde as DOR.  "It felt like coming home ". Teresa has a love for the facility due to the home town feel and all of the wonderful staff and patients.

    Casey joined the Rehab Synergies team in August 2017. She has experience in billing and has worked as a Tech, Certified Nursing Assistance and as a Restorative Aid in the Skilled Nursing Facility setting. Casey is a Crockett/Latexo native giving an added connection to our patients and our community as a whole. Casey’s energy, organization and personality combine to give our Community Care Center’s Therapy Department a strong foundation.

    Briana Keeling, M.A., CCC-SLP is originally from a small coastal town in Maine. Upon graduation of high school, she joined the U. S. Navy, and served for over 9 years as a Naval Air Crewman and a linguist. During her service, Briana was sent to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California to learn Persian Farsi, and then Spanish. This love of language learning inspired her to further her studies in speech language pathology, and she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Disorders and Master of Arts degree in Speech Language Pathology from Our Lady of the Lake University. While in school and clinical rotation, she developed a passion for working with adults suffering from dysphagia and cognitive deficits, and subsequently pursued a focus on the study and treatment of swallow disorders and cognitive rehabilitation.

    William has worked in the Healthcare Field for the past 22 years, and has been practicing Occupational erapy for 15 years. He first began his erapy career specializing in Industrial Rehabilitation, while managing clinics in Altus Oklahoma, and later in Houston, Texas. William moved back to his hometown of Bowie in 2006, and changed his area of specialization in Occupational erapy to Long-Term Care. William has spent the last 7 years working in Long-Term Care as a Director of Rehabilitation Services, focusing on Geriatrics and Sub-Acute Rehab Programs.

    The Director of Rehabilitation at Balch Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation is Dee’Andrea Sterns. She is a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and graduated from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas in 2012 with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences. She is currently re-enrolling  in college to pursue her  Bachelors of Applied Sciences Degree at Texas A&M Commerce and plans to go on to obtain her Master’s Degree at Texas Women’s University in Dallas to become an Occupational Therapist. She and her 5 year old daughter, Harmony Raindle reside in Desoto, Texas.

    Purnananda Kar is an Occupational Therapist, board certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NCBOT) and member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Kar has over 15 years of experience in clinical as well as rehabilitation management. The vast majority of his experience has been with geriatric rehabilitation. Kar has been employed with us for over 9 years in different capacities. Currently, as the Director of Rehabilitation he oversees the clinical outcomes of all Rehabilitation patients. He leads an outstanding therapy team who make positive differences in the lives of their Residents. The Team has the primary objective of helping every resident to reach their goal and return to their choice of living. He provides the bridge between resident , family, nursing and medical staff. Outside of his work he enjoys writing, reading, traveling and spending time with family. He lives in Allen, TX with his wife and 2 children. He quotes “aging is not a number, it’s the feeling”, our responsibility is to give back that feeling.

    Amy was born and raised in Vernon, TX. She is the mother of a great young man who plans on getting his degree in robotics and enjoys several diverse extracurricular activities. She got her Bachelors in Organizational Leadership from the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith. After several years of dealing with pain in her low back and neck, Amy decided to go back to school to get her degree as a physical therapist assistant so that she could “fix herself”. Amy graduated from the physical therapist assistant program at Arkansas Tech University in Ozark, Arkansas in 2013. Following graduation, Amy became licensed as a PTA and started working in Vernon for Rehab Synergies. Amy thrives on working with her geriatric patients to increase strength, flexibility, balance and safety with functional mobility and to facilitate restoration of function for them to live their lives to the fullest extent.

    Brittney received a Master’s Degree in communication disorders from West Texas A&M University. She has acquired experience working with a wide range of age groups including pediatric and geriatric, addressing a variety of disorders affecting speech, language and swallowing abilities. Brittney is trained in and utilizes the Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) with swallowing disorders and she is a Certified Dementia Practitioner which has greatly impacted her care given to the residents with dementia.  Brittney has been a part of the Rehab Synergies team for eight years and serves as the Director of Rehab. Brittney has two children and enjoys spending her free time with them and her husband of 12 years.

    Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Jennifer has 5 years of experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant and 2 ½ years as a director of rehab. She now uses the skills she gained through treating clients in acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient hand therapy to maximize her clients’ progress.  Jennifer’s favorite part of being a director of rehab is supporting the physical, speech, and occupational therapy team as they transform people’s lives.

    Attended Northwestern State University in Louisiana where I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and Master of Education Degree in Sport Administration.  I was a personal trainer for severe years before deciding to return to school at Belmont University in Nashville, TN where I graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.  My Wife is an Associate Professor at Texas A & M University in Commerce, TX which is what brought my family to Texas.  She accepted a job at A&M in 2004 and we made the trip from Nashville to Commerce, TX.  Love living in Texas and enjoy working for Rehab Synergies.  I have been employed with Rehab Synergies for 3 months as the Director of Rehab at Greenville Health and Rehab and hope to continue for several years.  I have two children, Bryce (3) and Ayla (6) who I spend most of my time with when I am not working and I have been married 20 years to Tara.

    Originally from Miami, Kristina knew she wanted a career in the health and rehabilitation industry. She attended Keiser University to be trained as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and graduated with honors in 2011. Kristina joined our Rehab Synergies team shortly after she relocated here to Texas, and has been working as a licensed COTA with our company ever since. Conscientious, diligent, and focused, Kristina is a valued member of our rehab team, who has been newly promoted to Director of Rehabilitation.  Kristina is passionate about helping people meet their full potential.  She lives here in San Antonio, with her husband Hanif, their 4year old twins, Gavin and Nellie, and their schnauzer Albert Einstein.

    Chelsea has been practicing as a Physical Therapist Assistant here in Texas since 2012, moving from her home state of Missouri after graduating with her Associate In Applied Science Degree in May 2012, to start her career as a PTA a month later here in Texas. Chelsea started at Palo Pinto Nursing Center as a staff PTA, where after five years was promoted to Director of Rehabilitation. Chelsea has worked in the home health setting and numerous skilled nursing facilities as PRN over the years to increase her experience in the therapy field. She now calls Weatherford home but remains a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football. Family, friends, Ripley the dog and Harley the cat are a few of her favorite things!

    Natashia is our Director of Rehabilitation at Heritage House at Paris Rehab & Nursing. She began working in healthcare in 2004 as a Rehab Technician for two years at The Physical Therapy Clinic of Paris, which would fuel her desire to help and serve others. Natashia graduated from Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas in 2007 with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree. Since then she has worked in a variety of settings including pediatric and adult outpatient, aquatic therapy, home health, inpatient rehab, acute care, and long-term care. Natashia has since returned to college attending A&M University-Commerce and will soon graduate with her Bachelor’s degree majoring in Science and Engineering in the summer of 2020. Natashia is married to Josh, who is Manager of Projects at an engineering company and they have 3 children.

    Christina Cardenas is a ASHA certified speech language pathologist with over 13 years’ experience in clinical as well as rehabilitation management experience. She graduated from The University of Texas- Pan American with a Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Since graduating in 2006 she has worked in various clinical settings including skilled nursing, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, LTACH, acute and pediatrics. Christina shares her life with her husband and her 6-year-old daughter (Zoe) who keeps her busy with dance, cheer and chess. She also enjoys running, and relaxing at the beach.

    Lindsey Krun is from Cumby TX and became a physical therapist assistant in 2018. Interesting little tidbit about Lindsey – she was a cosmetologist for over 10 years before deciding it was time for a change. As a single mother of a 15 year old son, Lindsey states that although she loved cosmetologist she needed something different. After much thought and research Lindsey applied to and was accepted to PTA school. She excelled and found she was an absolute natural. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys tending to her garden, DIY projects around her home, and preparing healthy and nutritious meals for her and her son.

    Josh Honea is the Director of Rehab, and Physical Therapy Assistant for Rising Star nursing and rehabilitation. He graduated from Weatherford College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapy. He has experience in out patient rehabilitation, in patient rehabilitation, home health, and skilled nursing. In his spare time he enjoys exercising, and spending time with his wife and two children

    Kelly Barron,MS/CCC-SLP, graduated from Univ of North Texas in 1992 with her masters degree  in speech language pathology and undergraduate work in communication disorders  completed at Texas State University.    She has over 20 years experience with the geriatric population , but has experience with all ages in a variety of settings including: hospitals, home health, outpatient, and pediatrics.  Her specialty is with the aging population with treatment for  neurological disorders and other dysfunctions affecting speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognition. She is working on her second year with Rehab Synergies.

    She is married to Darrell, who is a coach/teacher in Azle and they have one daughter, Paige, who is a freshman in college. She enjoys attending church/bible study, going to soccer games for her daughter, and spending time with her family.

    Chelsea has been with Rehab Synergies for over 6 years now, since their inception of her facility. She is currently the Director of Rehabilitation at Whitehall Rehab and Nursing in Crockett, TX.  She attended Navarro College to study to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and graduated in 2009 with an Associate in Applied Science Degree. She enjoys working for Rehab Synergies and the rewards of successful therapy with her patients. She has worked in multiple types of settings such as home health, SNFs, In-patient, and Out-patient since she graduated and has realized her passion is among the aging population and Out Patient settings. She lives in the small town of Centerville with her husband (Garrett) and two children, Daughter (Larrin) and Son (Parker). She enjoys watching her children play sports, dance, and develop into loving individuals and traveling to new places. She finds balance of putting her compassion into her job and developing a family-like atmosphere for team and patients, as well, as trying to maintain being the best mom/wife she can be.  Chelsea loves the facility and team she works with and feels that it is a team effort to make things run smoothly, efficiently and providing the best care to the patients all while you’re having fun!

    Rachel Ruiz is the Director of Rehabilitation at Vista Hills Healthcare Center. Ms. Ruiz has been practicing physical therapy for 19 years.Her experience spans treating people in different stages of their lives in a variety of different settings (acute care, outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing facilities).She chose a profession in healthcare because she has had a life long passion for helping individuals in need. Ms. Ruiz took over the duties of being the Director of Rehabilitation in 1999 and has been fundamental to the growth of our facility. Ms. Ruiz oversees all aspects of the therapy services at Vista Hills. She was born in Abilene, Texas but has lived in El Paso for a majority of her life. Her interest outside of work includes traveling, music, and is an avid animal lover as demonstrated by the 9 pets she keeps at home.

    Nathaniel grew up in Indiana where he gained experience working at his father’s electric business, helping to wire homes and businesses. Nathaniel also gained experience working in various group homes over the course of 8 years with men and women with intellectual disabilities where he helped participate in Special Olympics and maintained annual CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification. Nathaniel was also a private care provider to an individual with CP, where he provided total care, organized community outings, and assisted in weekly Hippotherapy sessions.

    After graduation of college in 2009, with a degree to practice as a COTA, Nathaniel worked in various settings to include SNF, LTACH, and Outpatient facilities, as well as a long term Memory care unit. In 2010 Nathaniel began a position as a travel therapist, which sent him to Nevada, and Texas where he has maintained residence since.

    Nathaniel has been employed with Rehab Synergies since 2014, and is currently the Director of Rehab at The Oaks at White Settlement. Nathaniel maintains his credential through NBCOT, is a CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner), maintains licensure in 3 states, and is trained in the use of ACP modalities.

    I attended and graduated from Anamarc College, in El Paso, Texas with an Associates of Applied Sciences, Occupational Terapy Assistant Degree. Shortly thereafter, I went on to continue my education receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education. And soon, I will continue on to obtain my MOT degree. I have primarily worked with the adult/geriatric population in, home health, long term acute care, and skilled nursing facilities. I truly enjoy working for Rehab Synergies is by far one of the best rehab companies I have worked for. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my two boys.

    Justin earned his PTA license in 2012 from Amarillo College, located in his home town of Amarillo, TX. He later relocated to Lubbock, TX where he worked with a locally owned Physical Therapy Outpatient Orthopedi clinic and contracted through a local hospital where he gained experience in acute care. From early in his career, Justin knew he wanted to be a Rehab Director after seeing how much he personally touched and changed peoples lives. His role as DOR began in 2015 and set the path to becoming the Director of Rehabilitation for Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Vernon in 2018. When not at work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and two dogs, Baxter and Gizmo.

    Philinda Galzote graduated from Dela Salle University, Philippines in 2000 with the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management. After 11 years of working in the Business World she realized that she wanted to pursue a career in Healthcare. She studied at Cameron University with an Associate degree in Interdisciplinary studies in 2011 and applied in COTA program at Southwestern State University in Oklahoma where she received her degree for Applied Science of Occupational Therapist Assistant in 2012. Her family moved back to Hawaii in 2013 and she worked in Outpatient and Inpatient setting in the hospital, but PRN in a lot of Skilled Nursing Facility at the same time. Coming back to the mainland she decided to pursue her career in Geriatric setting where she loves to work. Before becoming the Director of Rehab at White Settlement she PRN with Rehab Synergies for over 3 years and finally became fulltime employee with the company on February 2019.

    Valerie completed her degree in Science for OTA at Keiser University in Orlando, Florida. She has been practicing since 2011 obtaining experience in various settings including Inpatient Rehabilitation, Acute Care Hospitalization, and Long Term Care where she practices a holistic approach to wellness, managing chronic disease, improving function, and supporting independence. Valerie prides herself in focusing on rebuilding her patient’s independence and self-esteem through compensatory strategies, task modifications, and evidenced-based practice. She has worked for Rehab Synergies at Windcrest Health and Rehab for 5 years and has been in the Director role for just over two years. During Valerie’s down time, she enjoys socializing with friends and family, discovering new recipes for cooking, staying up to date on current affairs, and spending time with her dogs.

    IShelbie Belz is the Director of Rehab and a COTA at Advanced Rehab and Healthcare of Wichita Falls. She has worked for Rehab Synergies since May 2012. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Science and a degree in Exercise in Sports Science and went on to earn her Associates as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant from Southwestern State Oklahoma. Shelbie absolutely loves taking care of people and seeing the progress patients make (the geriatric population has always been her focus to work with) and is thankful for the incredible team she works with at Wichita Falls. She and her husband have 3 children that keep them busy outside of work.

Kacia moved from Kansas to Texas in 2017 and has spent her career focused on patients in the skilled nursing setting. Kacia’s passion is working with post-acute stroke patients and providing excellent quality of care.

    Chad Sanderson is the Director of Rehab at Tomball Rehab and Nursing.  He has over twenty-five years of therapy experience in outpatient, skilled nursing and home health settings.  Chad holds his Associates degree in Applied Science and is a licensed physical therapist assistant.  Chad also earned his Bachelor of Business degree in finance and Master’s degree in business and leadership.   He enjoys working with team members to help meet the goals and outcomes of residents and patients helping them obtain their highest level and prior function. 

    Chad lives in Magnolia, Texas with his wife Shannon, son Zakary, daughter Taylor and dog Scout.

    Physical Therapist Asst since 2010, Jacquline obtained her degree at Kilgore College. Initially she worked in the Inpatient Rehab setting for 2 years where she gained a variety of skills including a certification in Neuro-Integrative Functional Rehabilitation and Habilitation which is a unique method utilized in stroke recovery. In 2012, Jacquline transitioned her skill set to her passion in Long Term Care and Skilled Nursing Facilities with the geriatric population. Jacquline has been proudly serving her local community at the Willows for 5 years.

    Lauren received her Bachelor in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater and pursued her Master’s from the University of Texas at El Paso. Lauren has been practicing as a Speech and Language Pathologist for 6 years and just recently decided to shift roles as the Rehab Director for Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Athens. Since graduating Lauren has only worked in skilled nursing facilities because she has a passion for helping to improve the function and quality of life of seniors. She is certified in LSVT-Loud, which is a program designed to improve vocal quality especially for those patients who have Parkinson’s disease. She also has training to provide specialized care relating to those patients who have dementia as a Certified Dementia Practioner. When Lauren is not at work she enjoys spending her time outdoors with her children and husband.
